Janelle Monáe: A Woman with Style
American R&B/soul musician Janelle Monáe is a girl with style and class. Monáe grew up in Kansas City and has said that she was heavily influenced by Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz! She has also reported that she dreamed of being a performer at a very early age. Monáe moved to New York to study drama, and was signed to Bad Boy Records and Atlantic Records in 2006.

She is talented and powerful musically, and a role model for young women. We love her fashion style which is androgynous yet feminine . Monáe’s signature style consists of a Tuxedo and coiffed hair, and was featured in the “Style 100″ of InStyle Magazine. She said to Honey Magazine, “A tux is such a standard uniform, it’s so classy and it’s a lifestyle I enjoy. The tux keeps me balanced.” At Monáe’s concerts she encourages her fans to be individuals. She is awesome!
